 Solo is an American comic book series that was published bimonthly by DC Comics, beginning in October 2004. Each issue has 48 pages plus covers, with no ads.

Solo was canceled in 2006; in total, twelve issues appeared.

In 2006 Solo was nominated for and received three Eisner Awards, including:

    * Best short story: "Teenage Sidekick," by Paul Pope, in Solo #3

    * Best single issue: Solo #5, by Darwyn Cooke

    * Best anthology: Solo, edited by Mark Chiarello

The title was conceived as an anthology series to spotlight the work of a different comic book artist in each issue. The creators were free to tell stories in any genre and to use DC's library of characters as they saw fit. They could also work with writers if they chose, but the intention of the series was for them to show off the range of their own individual artistic sensibilities and abilities.

    * #1 Tim Sale (with Jeph Loeb, Brian Azzarello, Darwyn Cooke, and Diana Schutz)

    * #2 Richard Corben (with John Arcudi)

    * #3 Paul Pope

    * #4 Howard Chaykin

    * #5 Darwyn Cooke

    * #6 Jordi Bernet (with John Arcudi, Joe Kelly, Andrew Helfer, Chuck Dixon, and Brian Azzarello)

    * #7 Mike Allred (with Laura Allred and Lee Allred)

    * #8 Teddy Kristiansen (with Neil Gaiman and Steven Seagle)

    * #9 Scott Hampton (with John Hitchcock)

    * #10 Damion Scott (with Rob Markmam and Jennifer Carcano)

    * #11 Sergio Aragonés (with Mark Evanier)

    * #12 Brendan McCarthy (with Howard Hallis, Steve Cook, Sir Trevor Goring, Robbie Morrison, Tom O'Connor and Jono Howard)

In some ways it could be seen as a descendant of DC's old Showcase series, though instead of developing new concepts the title highlights the work of established industry professionals.

 Amazons Attack! is a six-issue comic book limited series that was published by DC Comics. Written by Will Pfeifer and pencilled by Pete Woods, the first issue was released April 25, 2007.

A proposed story titled Amazons Attack! was originally slated as one of the mini-series that lead into the Infinite Crisis storyline. However, it was cancelled and never appeared. Though the projects share the same title, the planned Crisis tie-in was a completely different storyline that involved the U.S. military invading Themyscira.

The Amazons teleport to Washington, D.C., where Diana is being held captive and tortured by the Department of Metahuman Affairs. The DMA wants the schematic plans for an Amazonian Purple Ray, wishing to deploy the device for their own uses. Diana refuses their demand. Led by the newly resurrected Hippolyta and her adviser Circe, the Amazons are joined by mythical creatures such as chimeras, winged horses, hydras and several cyclopes. The Amazon forces waste no time in murdering every male in sight, both adult and child, regardless of whether or not they are armed. Hippolyta is bent on destroying Man's World once and for all, and goes so far as to slice the head off of Lincoln's statue at the Lincoln Memorial. Two Amazons enter the White House and attempt to assassinate the President of the United States, but are stopped by Black Lightning...

 Chimera was an American comic book published by CrossGen Entertainment from March to July 2003. It was a mini-series that ran for four issues. Chimera was most notable for its artwork. Produced by Brandon Peterson the artwork was a blending of traditional and computer-enhanced techniques.

Chimera tells the story of Sara Janning who carves away massive chunks of ice as part of a tritium mining operation on the frozen world of Serevan. Serevan lives on the edge of Chimeran space, there she has been trying to hide her genetic makeup from the Chimeran Imperium, an empire of over 200 planets. When a stranger arrives on Serevan, however, Sara is discovered and it seems that not even the distant world of Serevan is far away enough to escape the notice of the Chimeran Imperium.

Dangerous Acquaintances - 5 issues, June 1989 - March 1990 (TPB, 1991, Soft Cover: ISBN 1-56060-116-7, Hard Cover: ISBN 1-56060-116-9; 1997, reissue, ISBN 1-56971-227-1)

Dangerous Acquaintances is an original English-language manga written Toren Smith and Adam Warren and illustrated by Adam Warren, based on the Dirty Pair characters created by Haruka Takachiho. Originally published by Eclipse Comics between June 1989 - March 1990 and has since been collected into a trade paperback TPB in 1991 and reissued by Dark Horse Comics in 1997.

Plot

The Lovely Angels are on vacation on the planet of Rocinante when they spot an old 'acquaintance', Shasti. Kei and Yuri immediately attack Shasti in a drunken rage, but are quickly subdued by the heavily-armed and violent local police as Shasti blends into the crowd. Through a series of flashbacks interwoven though the story, the tale of the betrayal, attempted murder, and humiliation of the (then-rookie) pair by the increasingly psychotic superagent Shasti is told. The Lovely Angels start investigating Shasti's presence on the planet, and uncover a nest of apparently unconnected plots that all seem to have Shasti as the leader. Revolutionaries, a band of thieves after a collection of priceless antiques and an experimental one-of-a-kind FTL drive installed in an interstellar liner filled with rich and influential potential hostages: which is Shasti's real goal and what is simply smokescreen? One thing is clear, though: the Dirty Pair want revenge against Shasti, and not even their reputation will bar the way!

The Lovely Angels are assigned to Pacifica: tissue samples and the single surviving brainchip of leading biotechnical engineer Kelvin A. O'Donnell have been stolen by agents of Abraham Streib, a rival industrialist maimed in an accident apparently staged by O'Donnell. Enter the Dirty Pair, who rescue O'Donnell's brainchip, implanted by Streib in a cuddly Pseudo-Fuzzy. Mission accomplished - but O'Donnell convinces the Angels of Streib's traffic in illegal bioweapons, and persuades them to help him retrieve his tissue samples so he can regain his humanity. His consciousness transferred to a synthetic warbeast, O'Donnell leads the Pair to Streib's lab, obliterating most of his cronies - and a sizable section of Pacifica's capital city. O'Donnell assures the destruction of Streib's operation, and of Streib himself, but, en route home, is arrested by Pacifica Security for unlawful bioweapons production of his own.

With art that looks like a hybrid of Norman Rockwell and Jack Kirby, artist Ross has become the preeminent painter of superheroes of his generation. This lavish coffee- table tribute puts him into a pantheon as exalted as the superbeings he depicts. The son of a preacher and an illustrator, Ross was always captivated by superheroes, but it wasn't until he discovered the use of live models in art school that he was able to realize his visions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest. Like Rockwell, Ross uses photographs to set up lighting and staging-a process documented in a section at the end of the book-and like Rockwell, he favors otherworldly lighting effects that somehow serve to make his figures more realistic. Like Kirby, he has an innate belief in the iconic power of superheroes that gives them a dimension far beyond the usual four-colored adventures. Whether in Kingdom Come, a renowned tale of the twilight of the superheroes; his own oversized stories written with Paul Dini; or countless posters, covers and commissions, Ross's vision of beings so powerful they verge on arrogant will make viewers glad they don't exist in the real world. Kidd's text is laudatory but never cloying, and the book includes numerous studies, sketches and photos to show Ross's method. While collectors and fans gush over Ross's output, the sheer weight of pictures of every superteam in DC's universe does become somewhat numbing by the end. Still, the immense power of Ross's best images cuts through any clutter, and this volume deftly showcases just that.

Writer/Artist: Shaun Tan

Recipient of numerous awards and nominations in Australia, The Arrival proves a beautiful, compelling piece of art, in both content and form. Tan (The Lost Thing, 2004) has previously produced a small body of off-kilter, frequently haunting stories of children trapped in surreal industrial landscapes. Here, he has distilled his themes and aesthetic into a silent, fantastical masterpiece. A lone immigrant leaves his family and journeys to a new world, both bizarre and awesome, finding struggle and dehumanizing industry but also friendship and a new life. Tan infuses this simple, universal narrative with vibrant, resonating life through confident mastery of sequential art forms and conventions. Strong visual metaphors convey personal longing, political suppression, and totalitarian control; imaginative use of panel size and shape powerfully depicts sensations and ideas as diverse as interminable waiting, awe-inspiring majesty, and forlorn memories; delicate alterations in light and color saturate the pages with a sense of time and place. Soft brushstrokes and grand Art Deco–style architecture evoke a time long ago, but the story's immediacy and fantasy elements will appeal even to readers younger than the target audience, though they may miss many of the complexities. Filled with subtlety and grandeur, the book is a unique work that not only fulfills but also expands the potential of its form.

"There aren't many revolutionists left these days, but the word still has a nice ring to it. I originally wanted to draw a 2 volume series about revolutionists and had enough material for it, but didn't get to draw it because the page count wasn't sufficient. But I'd still like to do it if I get the chance. Anyhow, the poem at the very end in the last frame was nonsense. She finally realized that she has no ability as a writer.

A story set in a country like the former USSR. I love Russian movies. They make me really sleepy (especially Tarkovsky films), but after I watch them, they stay with me for some reason. Incidentally, I find girls who speak Russian cute. They sound like cats. I actually had that in mind when I drew this story. Also, I tried to focus on the setting rather than the story and put together the various key points in a series of images for fun. I really enjoyed drawing this."

The ~censored~ son of a drunken sailor and a hurricane, Ironhide Tom is a stickman pirate with a penchant for exclamations like “Cowpies!” and “Nightsoil!” when he gets in misadventures. Which, apparently, happens a lot. It’s very stupid and very, very funny.

There couldn't be a simpler premise than the one that drives every one of this book's 30 cartoons of 60 tiny, wordless panels apiece: Mr. O is a tiny geometrical stick figure whose path is interrupted by a chasm. All he wants is to make it to the other side (which every other creature and character in the book seems to be able to do without a problem), but every scheme he tries lands him at the bottom of the pit (which is off-panel, but seems to be a very long way down). The effect is reminiscent of a collection of Charlie-Brown-and-the-football strips or Road Runner cartoons stripped down to their barest, micro-minimal essence of line, color and existential frustration, and ending up with something universal and hilarious. From the book's outset, French cartoonist Trondheim sets up the ground rules for the strip's look and content—the laws of physics here are a bit different from the ones in our world, but they are consistent—and then runs through an increasingly complicated (and hysterically funny) set of variations on the crossing-the-chasm problem. Mr. O tries bridges, wings, springs, levers, hot air, an airplane, a teleportation device and several unusual (and scatological) options to get across, with the same fatal result every time. It seems like an idea that could generate an infinite number of gags, but Trondheim actually comes up with a perfectly apt conclusion to the book that's its best and darkest joke.

Ultimate Human (originally titled Ultimate Hulk vs. Iron Man) is an American comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics. The limited series set in the Ultimate Universe, is written by Warren Ellis and pencilled by Cary Nord.

The series deals with a desperate Bruce Banner pleading with Tony Stark to cure him of his Hulk affliction.

The story begins with Bruce Banner approaching Tony Stark to assist in curing him of the failed super-soldier serum that still runs through his body. The Leader (an Ultimate amalgam of the original Leader and Pete Wisdom) is shown to be attempting to obtain both men's blood. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner travel to a Stark facility and Stark places Banner under extreme pressure environments, causing him to become the Hulk and revealing that the Hulk is inhumanly capable of adjusting to new environments and situations.

While the Hulk is on a rampage, Tony manages to get himself inside an Iron Man suit. But due to the lack of weapons, Tony must fight Hulk head on. After Tony uses a blade to cut off the Hulks anger, Hulk reverts back into Bruce Banner. No Iron Man suit had survived more than one punch, while this suit had received two. This amount of damage cause the suit to go into overload, causing Tony to fly off and eject midair; falling to the ground. He survives the fall due to his advanced healing. After Bruce wakes up in the hospital, Tony explains how he has disabled the Hulk using Nanodes to shut down any Hulk cells that form. Later, After some rest, Bruce explains to Tony his true intentions for the Super Soldier formula that became the Hulk. He felt that if in the 1940's they could turn a dumb kid into Captain America, then a 21st Century formula would turn Bruce Banner into the greatest mind on the planet. Tony tells Bruce to use the time away from the Hulk to work on his Super Soldier formula, and that he can use the Ironworks factory however he pleases. Just then the Leader's men attack Ironworks and kidnap Bruce and Tony.

In Issue 3, the history of The Leader is shown. In the fourth and final issue, Tony shuts down the anti-Hulk nanodes in Bruce's body and provokes the Hulk transformation to defeat the Leader. The Hulk subsequently escapes and Tony apologizes to Banner for not being able to help him.
